Belonging to Yourself: Transforming Your Relationship with Loneliness & Solitude (talk)
About the event
We often hear about the ‘epidemic of loneliness’ in the media. We are generally told that loneliness is a bad thing to be avoided at all costs, something which represents our failure as a modern society, something which we need to ‘solve’ before it destroys mankind.
But there is another way to look at loneliness and solitude – one which focuses on loneliness as an essential and valuable human experience. Very often, when we feel a deep sense of loneliness, we are actually disconnected from ourselves. It is an important messenger, letting us know that we have strayed too far away, and it’s time to come home.
In this talk and workshop, we will help you to reimagine your relationship with loneliness and solitude so you can find true belonging within.
