Conditional Love: The lifelong impact of growing up in a judgemental home (talk)
About the event
Growing up in a judgmental home fundamentally shapes how we view ourselves and others. When criticism is a constant, and love is conditional, we internalise shame, believing we’re never good enough. We become hyper-aware of others’ perceived judgments, creating walls around our true selves, and making meaningful connection increasingly difficult in later life.
These experiences often contribute to anxiety, low self-confidence, fear of rejection and perfectionism. The first step in healing these wounds, is creating a sense of safety within yourself, so you can begin to break free from the judgemental narratives that imprisoned you in your early life.
In this talk, leading psychotherapist Dr. Janet Reibstein will help you to take the first steps towards healing, acceptance and a life free from fear of judgement.
