Julia Samuel MBE
Julia is a leading UK psychotherapist and one of the world’s leading voices on grief and loss. With decades of clinical practice under her belt, Julia has authored three Sunday Times Bestsellers: Grief Works, This Too Shall Pass and Every Family Has a Story.
At St Mary’s Hospital Paddington, she established the post of psychotherapist for Paediatrics, where her role for 25 years involved seeing families who have children or babies who die, and where she trained and supported the staff.
In 1994 she worked to help launch and establish Child Bereavement UK and as the Founder Patron was involved in many aspects of the charity’s work, having a key role in fundraising, strategy and training.
In 2016 Julia was awarded an MBE in recognition of her services to bereaved children and in 2017 Middlesex University awarded her an Honorary Doctorate.
Julia also hosts a podcast – Therapy Works – where she invites listeners into her therapy room as she talks to both known and unknown voices about some of life’s biggest challenges.
