Ruth Coates
Ruth is a psychotherapist and therapeutic writing guide based in South East Scotland. She meets clients at her shepherd’s hut in the woods for either seated or walking sessions. Her approach is underpinned by her love of nature, by her commitment to social and climate justice, and by her belief in the collaborative nature of healing and progress.
She is interested in the ways we are shaped by family, culture and environments, and deeply curious about how we develop meaning in our lives through relationship – with self, with each other, and with the land.
She is steadfast in welcoming people of all identities, outlooks, and orientations, with long experience of working with those who live with the trauma of marginalisation and exclusion.
Alongside her psychotherapy practice, Ruth also holds monthly therapeutic writing sessions and longer courses.
