Introduction to Loving Kindness: A Radical Practice for Self-Compassion

About the event
Loving Kindness (also known as metta) is a powerful Buddhist practice that helps us heal emotional wounds and transform our relationship with ourselves and others. By offering ourselves love and understanding, we begin to break free from self-criticism and open our hearts. Loving Kindness is about cultivating a sincere, open-hearted awareness toward ourselves and the world. Through this practice, we develop deeper empathy, reduce suffering, and connect with the inherent goodness within all beings.
This is a simple practice which has the power to completely transform our relationships – both with ourselves and with those around us. In this workshop, you will learn how to practice metta with a short introduction to the technique followed by a practical session.
Your host for this session is David Oromith, a Buddhist contemplative and author with a background in mental health services. Having practised meditation since the age of 18, his journey into Buddhism began through personal struggles with depression and anxiety, leading him to the Buddha’s teachings. His work revolves around making ancient practices applicable to modern life.
